Anna Gregg - Creative Writing Tutor

I am a writer from the village of Seighford in Staffordshire. I recently achieved a distinction in my MA in Creative Writing at Keele University. I have a degree in English from Lancaster University.

I provide tutoring services for children or adults interested in creative writing. I aim to equip pupils with the key skills associated with the craft of writing and to inspire them to develop their imaginations.

I am also experienced in designing and delivering creative writing workshops. I have undertaken workshops in a range of settings, including sessions with looked after children in the care of a local authority. I currently deliver a course in Expressive Writing with the Wellbeing and Recovery College (part of the Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust).

I aspire to write literary fiction and recently completed a collection of short stories which I submitted for my MA dissertation. My short story ‘Space Invader’, was published in The Keele Writing Anthology Volume 3. I am currently working on a novel set in Staffordshire.

I am a professional member of the National Association of Writers in Education. I have an enhanced DBS certificate. (Certificate available to view on request).

Anna has everything that practitioners in creative writing, composition and workshop delivery need. As well as being a fantastic writer and skilled editor, Anna embodies a truth, honesty and kindness in her work and practice that would put any student at ease under her tutelage. Over the last few years Anna’s advice – in both workshops and in person – has influenced my poetry development in multiple, positive ways. Anna has opened my eyes to aspects of my work I did not recognise and would never have thought of before. All students of literature and creative writing, no matter their level or abilities, would be lucky to have Anna as their guide.

Anna has been teaching my daughter, Kyra for 7 months. She is extremely reliable and flexible and brings fresh new ideas to each of her lessons to broaden Kyra’s creative writing skills. She has helped Kyra to ‘think outside of the box’, and it is great to hear them having fun whilst exploring new techniques. Kyra’s confidence has grown, and she has commented several times on how the lessons have benefited her school work. She has entered Kyra into a few competitions and fingers crossed we are hoping for some awards!

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Anna for over 6 months. Anna originally joined a writing project with our college as a volunteer but soon became a lead trainer when the course was at risk of collapsing at development stage when the previous trainer left suddenly. I was very impressed by her creativity to develop activities that engaged students with all abilities. The writing course we developed together is now one of our most popular courses with much credit to Anna.
